Gold and Silver

Obviously not really talking about the precious metals here, though as a lover of silver, I can never seem to see the appeal of gold or why it's priced the way it is.

What I'm more talking about is hair colour. As people get older, their hair goes grey/silver/white. A lot of people find this absolutely horrifying and try to hide the grey with colour. But my question is this: why? Grey hair is a symbol of age and wisdom; should we not be proud of living to go completely grey? Or are we stuck in the mind set that getting old = bad?
